Simpsons Gap, in Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park, is about 18 kilometres (a 20-minute drive) west of Alice Springs.

Simpsons Gap sits on the Larapinta Trail, a 231-kilometre walking track through the West MacDonnell Ranges from the Alice Springs Telegraph Station to Mount Sonder.

A sealed, 17-kilometre one-way path near Simpsons Gap, starting opposite Flynn's Grave, is suited to family bike riding.
