Bright sits at the southeastern end of the Ovens Valley, about 317 km northeast of Melbourne and 78 km southeast of Wangaratta.

Morses Creek and the Ovens River at Bright have adjoining walking tracks for short or long walks, and the Ovens River is used for kayaking, trout fishing and swimming in warmer months.
