Springwood's Buttenshaw Park Youth Park has a double flying fox, a group swing and a bouldering wall. Katoomba's Hinkler Park has big swings and heritage play equipment, a short walk from the shops. In Blaxland, the St Johns Oval playground has scaling walls, a spider net, a bannister slide and a nest swing. At Wentworth Falls Lake, the playground sits by loop paths for children's bikes and sandstone sculptures.
Glenbrook Park has a junior playground themed on early transport. Railway tracks serve as balance beams, and a horse sculpture called Henrietta stands in the play area. In Blackheath, Soldiers Memorial Park has old-style play equipment and a Rocket inspired by the park's 1962 original. There is a duck pond too, and the pool opens in the warmer months.
In Winmalee, Summerhayes Park has play equipment beside the skatepark and a fenced off-leash dog area. In Lithgow, the Adventure Playground at Endeavour Park is built for all abilities. It has a mining-themed climbing structure, a flying fox and water play.
