Things to do with kids in Devonport & North West Tasmania

Cradle Mountain is the highlight. The walk around Dove Lake takes two to three hours with some steps, and the shuttle bus runs from the visitor centre. For little legs, the short Enchanted Walk near the park entrance has a tunnel built like a wombat burrow.
On the way, Tasmazia has eight mazes and a tiny model village. At Gunns Plains, kids can follow an underground river through the caves, then see devils at Wings Wildlife Park down the road. Near Devonport, the Don River Railway runs a short heritage train ride to Coles Beach.
Out west at Stanley, ride the chairlift or climb the zig-zag track up The Nut, then watch little penguins come ashore at dusk at the beach nearby. Boat Harbour Beach has clear, sheltered water, and in spring the tulips flower around the lighthouse at Table Cape.
