Things to do with kids in Victor Harbor & Fleurieu Peninsula

Victor Harbor is an easy day trip from Adelaide. Big Clydesdales pull the horse-drawn tram across the causeway to Granite Island, where a pram-friendly walk loops around the island. On the way back, kids can climb into a shark cage at the Whale Centre.
On Wednesdays and weekends, the Cockle Train runs between Goolwa and Victor Harbor, with the last stretch along the clifftops. At Port Elliot, Horseshoe Bay is sheltered from the swell and patrolled in summer. Between May and September, southern right whales come into the bay, and The Bluff is a good place to look for them.
Five minutes out of town, Urimbirra lets kids pat a koala and hand-feed kangaroos. On the west side of the peninsula, Carrickalinga has calm water and rock pools, and kids can try for a squid off the jetty at Second Valley.

Victor Harbor Horse Drawn Tram
Ride a Clydesdale tram to Granite Island
Clydesdales pull the tram across the causeway from Victor Harbor, with the first trip at 10.30am and the last at 3.20pm. Tickets are sold only by the drivers at the platform, and in October 2026 two kids rode free with each paying adult. The tram doesn't run when strong winds are forecast, so check that day's times first.
