Things to do with kids in Wodonga & Murray East

Wodonga sits right on the Murray, across the river from Albury. The sealed Gateway Island Trail loops along the river and the creek past sculptures by local Aboriginal artists. It is flat enough for bikes and prams, and you might see wallabies, spoonbills or even a platypus.
Just out of town, the Bonegilla Migrant Experience tells the story of the camp where more than 320,000 migrants arrived after the war. Kids can follow the Suitcase Trail. Nearby, the Army Museum Bandiana has one of the biggest military collections in the country. It is on a working base, so the driver needs photo ID at the gate.
For a picnic with a view, a short track climbs to the top of Huon Hill, which looks across both cities to Lake Hume. On hot days from October to April, WAVES has a toddler pool and a splash pad.
