Things to do with kids in Albury & the Murray

In Albury, the Murray runs right past the city. Noreuil Park has a fenced playground, a cafe and shady lawns by the river, and a trail follows the water to Wonga Wetlands, which has bird hides along three short walks. The river has snags and strong currents, so keep any paddle close.
The art museum in town is free, and kids can ask for an activity trail or look for the hidden wonder cupboards. Climb Monument Hill for a view over the city. Up the highway in Holbrook, there is a real submarine at the Submarine Museum, and kids can look through a periscope and fire a pretend torpedo.
This region also follows the river far to the west. Near Mildura, the Inland Botanic Gardens run a tractor train on Saturdays. Wentworth has an old gaol to explore, and further north, the Walls of China at Mungo are a long but unforgettable drive on dirt roads.
