For one Friday evening the museum opens its level 4 terrace as a bar, with one of the best views in town. The ticket includes your first beer, wine or soft drink. The Archibald stays open until 6pm that night, so see the portraits first.

TABILK
Free tasting at Tahbilk, then a walk through its wetlands
Tahbilk has made wine here since 1860 and still ages some of it in underground cellars. The walk-in tasting covers five wines, including its Marsanne. Afterwards, follow the boardwalks to the bird hides on the billabong.

Weekend breakfast on Tahbilk's billabong deck
The estate restaurant sits on the backwaters of the Tahbilk billabong. Ask for the outdoor deck over the water and order from the spring menu. Then wander the wetland trails at your own pace before the cellar door opens.

Seated tasting at Mitchelton on the Goulburn River
Mitchelton has made wine on the Goulburn's banks since 1969. A wine ambassador leads a seated tasting of its Nagambie and Heathcote wines. Pair it with a cheese flight, and look up at the estate's tall Ashton Tower on the way in.

Cellar 47 began in 1977 in an actual cellar at 47 High Street, hence the name. The front half is casual; ask for the back, which is set up for a more intimate dinner. Wood-fired pizzas and classic mains share the menu.
