In Ararat, the Alexandra Gardens playground has a tower with a two-storey slide, farm-themed play and a Liberty Swing for wheelchair users. Stawell's Cato Park playground is fenced and shaded, with a barbecue and accessible toilets. In St Arnaud, Market Square is a small park behind the main street, with junior play, a nature play area and a skate park. Willaura's Recreation Reserve has a playground under shady trees, with free barbecues and tennis courts.
Ararat's seasonal outdoor pool sits beside Alexandra Gardens, with a shaded toddler pool, a mushroom spray and tipping buckets. Willaura's summer pool, at the same reserve, has a shallow toddler pool partly under a shade sail. Both pools close on days below 23 degrees.
Across Stawell, North Park pairs a playground with the town's skate park. On the road to Halls Gap, Moyston's Recreation Reserve playground sits at the Moyston Cricket Ground. Visitors can kick a footy there, opposite the monument to Tom Wills.
