Things to do with kids in Barossa Valley

The Barossa is known for wine, but there is plenty here for kids. At the Whispering Wall near Williamstown, words whispered at one end of the dam can be heard more than 140 metres away at the other, and there is a nature playground beside the picnic lawns.
The Barossa Trail is a sealed path between the towns, so pick a short stretch for little legs; the cycle hub in Tanunda hires bikes, with kids' bikes on request. At Springton, the Herbig Family Tree is a hollow red gum that a settler family lived in during the 1850s. Two of their children were born inside it.
Early morning or dusk is the time to see kangaroos grazing at Sandy Creek, on a loop walk that suits most ages. For the view, drive up to the sculpture park on Mengler's Hill and let the kids roam between the sculptures.
