The Southern Highlands are an easy trip from Sydney or Canberra. At
Fitzroy Falls, a flat boardwalk from the visitor centre takes prams all the way to the lookout. In Bowral, the
Bradman Museum has a kids' area and a backyard to play cricket in, and the walk around the oval is flat.
At sunset in summer, take a torch down to
Glow Worm Glen in Bundanoon, then switch it off at the platform and wait for the walls to light up. The track is steep, so it suits kids who can walk a couple of kilometres. On weekends, the hedge maze at
Harper's Mansion in Berrima is a good way to wear them out.
Around Goulburn, kids can climb the war memorial tower on
Rocky Hill for a view over the town, and the old
waterworks museum has a playground by the river and steam days through the year. In Mittagong,
Lake Alexandra has turtles, ducks and a playground.
