Things to do with kids in Melbourne

Melbourne is generous to families. Kids get in free at Melbourne Museum and Scienceworks every day, and at Melbourne Zoo, Werribee Open Range Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary on weekends and in the school holidays. Plan the big outings around that and you save a lot.
The bay beaches are calm, which makes them good for little kids. Try the sheltered cove by the Brighton bathing boxes or the rock pools at Ricketts Point. At dusk, book a free session to watch little penguins come home to the breakwater at St Kilda Pier.
Every part of the city has its own big park. In the east, there's Jells Park and the parks along the Yarra. The north has farms like CERES and Bundoora Park. In the south-east, the Cranbourne Gardens are free. Pick your area below to see what is closest to home.
705 family outings, waterfalls and walks across the region, sorted by drive time from Melbourne. Choose your suburb at the top to sort from where you are staying.
